2、 教学与研究的优越品质,波兰最主要的综合研究性大学,名列75所综合性高等学府之首。“我们演识深信,今天的克拉科夫雅盖隆大学不仅是最古老最有声望的大学,也是最好的大学”,校长F生主浓ranciszek Ziejka教授如是说境件胡资写。这样说主要基于两点:(1)、平均每位大学教师出版的文献数量最多;(2)、世界公认的引用文献数量最多;当然教授数量也是最多的。

ThroughoutthehistoryoftheUniversity,thousandsofstudentsfromalloverPoland,fromLithuania,Russia,Hungary,Bohemia,GermanyandSpainhavestudiedthere.Inthesecondhalfofthe15thcentury,over40%ofstudentscamefromcountriesotherthantheKingdomofPoland.Forseveralcenturies,virtuallytheentireintellectualeliteofPolandwaseducatedattheUniversity.
ThefirstchancelloroftheacademywasPiotrWyszandthefirstprofessorswereCzechs,GermansandPoles,manyofthemtrainedattheCharlesUniversityinPragueinBohemia.OfthestudentsattendingaboutonethirdwerePoles.
By1520GreekphilologywasintroducedbyConstanzoClarettiandWenzelvonHirschberg;Hebrewwasalsotaught.
JagiellonianUniversityinKrakowOldTownDistrict
TheGoldeneraoftheCracowAcademytookplaceduringthePolishRenaissance,between1500and1535,whenitwasattendedby3215studentsinthefirstdecadeofthe16thcentury.Asthepopularitydeclined,thisrecordwasnotsurpasseduntilthelate18thcentury.
In1846,aftertheKrakówUprising,thecityanditsuniversitybecamepartoftheAustrianEmpire.ThethreatofaclosureoftheUniversitywasdissipatedin1847bytheAustrianEmperor'sdecreetomaintainit.Buildings,liketheCollegiumNovumopenedin1887,wereadded.
OnNovember6,1939,184professorswerearrestedanddeportedtoSachsenhausenconcentrationcampduringoperationcodenamedSonderaktionKrakau.Theuniversity,alongwiththerestofPoland'shigherandsecondaryeducationwasshutdownfortheremainderofWorldWarII.
ThefacultywasalsosuppressedbytheCommunistsin1954.
In2007,theadministrativeofficesincludingthoseoftheRectorandDeanswerelocatedatthehistoricCollegiumNovum.
Since2000anewcomplexofuniversitybuildings,theso-calledThirdCampus,isunderconstruction,dueforcompletionin2010(publicfundsearmarkedfortheprojectamounttoPLN946,5mln,orEUR240mln).TheThirdCampusborderstheLifeScienceParkmanagedbytheJagiellonianCentreofInnovation.
